Bird Release Programme 2013

Based on the feedback received from the membership, the committee is proposing to purchase adult birds again this year for release in late September.

Last year the membership gave great support on the day with almost 30 members showing up, this meant there was much better distribution of birdswithin the club which was reflected on the opening day. Last year the committee also invested in approx 100 new feeders which were distributed to the various pen areas on demand, we would like to thank all the members who looked after these and kept them topped up throughout the year.

As part of our efforts to improve the wild stocks, a number of feeders have been put out to support the wild breeding stock in the various areas, it is hoped this will help to produce bigger and stronger wild broods. If any member wishes to get a feeder for their area please contact your local committee member to arrange.

The proposed numbers of birds to be ordered this year are as follows:
200 duck
600 adult pheasants

Larsen Traps 2012/13

The committee have built 4 new Larsen Traps, these along with the 2 mobile traps are currently in use in all 5 of the club pen areas.

If any member would like to try one of these in their area to reduce Grey Crow and Magpie numbers please contact your local committe member and arrangements will be made to make a trap available.

As mentioned already there is an active feeding programmein place for both released and wild birds, it is hoped we can expand this to more areas. Please let the committee know if you have an interest in trying this in your area.
